My last post was about journaling for Month-in-Review–how to get into the details of the past month to see what’s next. I mentioned the tea date and want to personalize it.

Very often I feel rushed to sit and read what I wrote for an entire month. I don’t have the time to reflect. I have to move forward. I need to produce. I’ll get too behind.

Yesterday, I made time to reflect on the month of January. Some of what I reflect on in my daily journal can be what I’ve done in my day, how I feel, who I’ve connected with, and what I need to move to the next day.

I’ll take the time to get tea with a friend, because she matters, and I truly want to know what’s going on in her life. What she’s looking forward to. When I reflected on the month of January, it felt like catching up with myself.

Self-Reflection is having a tea date with myself. I care about what’s going on in my life and by checking in, I’m understanding what I’m caring for and connecting with. I’m embracing and soaking in the joys and releasing the negatives and mistakes.

I smiled through most of my ‘date!’

I relived dinners and movie night with my gal friends, lively Manchester United games with my husband as my son and I texted commentary. I rejoiced in the birth of my cousin’s first baby. I soaked in dream teacher and energy healing training and brainstormed on how they would enhance my workshops.

By looking back, I saw how shifting my thoughts to positive, listening to others, and caring for me supported my boundaries and overall health.

There were moments of goofiness, lightheartedness, dancing, and being ME that I want to continue. The best part of my date was the validation that I’m on the right path. I clarified what matters, which will save me time as I’m clear on my intentions and why.

Self-Reflection = Special Date with Yourself

Here are some conversation starters:

  • How are you doing?

  • What have you done since we last connected?

  • Who did you see?

    • Wonderful! I’d love to see her again!

  • Oh. That doesn’t sound good.

    • What can you do to release that?

  • What AHA moments did you have?

    • Love it! Give me the juicy details!

  • That training sounds fantastic!

    • What did you learn?

  • What has brought that sparkle into your eyes?

  • What are you bringing into your life?

  • I had so much fun!

    • When can we do this again?

Don’t wait too long!

Put your date with yourself on your calendar today!
