End of Year Review

It’s hard to believe that 2022 is coming to a close. When I look back at the beginning of this year, I did a great deal of journaling about my intentions which brought me to what I wanted to focus on, bring into the world, and how I wanted to show up for myself and others. This detailed reminder of those intentions and goals was glued into my journals so that each month I was reminded about what mattered to me.

At the end of each month, I reflected on different aspects of my life: what I journaled about, what I spent my time on, how intentional I was on my goals/ways of being, what my dreams are beckoning me to notice, and what I want to continue, remove, or bring into the following month. To bring this into your journal practice, check out my blog on Month in Review. You can reflect on whatever serves you best.

At the end of the year or very soon into the new one, I look back at these lists to review and appreciate where I’ve been, the joys and sorrows that accompanied the year, how I’ve grown, who has impacted my life, how I spent my time, and what goals/intentions I accomplished.

This isn’t a five-minute exercise. It’s a pause act, a drink some tea by the fire type of activity where you can take your time and revel in the past year. I enjoy reliving the memories and will often reach out to people to reminisce with them.

This year I’ll create a page in my journal titled: 2022 Year in Review and write out the highs and the lows, the lessons and the gratitude.

On the opposite page I’ll note the monthly highlights. It’s a snapshot of my year. I can tell a lot about where I was personally, physically, spiritually based on what mattered enough to me to write down.

For instance, in 2021, I noted working with Sarah James for personal health. She’s kicking off a Healthy Holiday Countdown with trainer Brenna Buscher right now! Check it out if interested.

Other highlights included: Becoming a great aunt, Easter motorcycle ride, finishing the first draft of my young adult novel (which is in stuck mode), girls’ trip to Miami, Lake George car show, and lots of couch time healing since 2021 was a rough one for me physically.

I’d love to hear about your 2022 highlights and lowlights. They all matter as to who we are today and where we’re heading tomorrow. Take the time to pause and reflect. Your heart and mind will thank you!

I’ll schedule in my Year in Review Tea Party. Let me know if you’d like to join me! I’d be happy to remember with you.
